Dear Beloved,
Since my teens I have sought to know what was behind the curtain, the veil of this existence, to know the relationship with the infinite consciousness of this multi-dimensional multi-verse. To not cater to one name over another, I call it the Divine.
Why did I seek this early in life? Because when I was alone I felt something stirring in me. Something beyond this world. I couldn’t name it, but it was there. I asked myself, “What is this feeling? Can someone or something hear me?”
I didn’t know. But I was also in pain. I didn’t have answers to difficult problems. I didn’t even know how to articulate my problems or handle my unpredictable moods. I’ve learned a lot since then. But I would still say that the mystery continues in this relationship with the Divine.
Over the years the most valuable lesson I’ve learned was that when I asked the divine inside my heart, I could actually receive an answer. The Divine has many ways to connect with us whether be an inner knowing or some outside sign. Have you ever turned on the radio to hear exactly an answer to a question or song that perfectly helps you understand your life situation? It’s that synchronous experience that helps us feel heard, that we’re not alone. That we can access this divine intelligence that flows through everything, including ourselves. The Divine does respond, but we need to train our inner sense of hearing to hear the message.
That quality of The Responsive is within us to tap into. In the upcoming Sufi Yoga class, we will work with this quality as we dive into our yoga poses. How does our body’s energy field respond to this pose, this breath, this rest time? Awareness of feelings in our bodies is the first step to clearing out the distractions. Then we’ll dive into Sufi meditation. We’ll declutter our minds and ask the Divine a question. Then we’ll fine tune our inner senses to listen deeply so that we can recognize the response to our heart’s query.
Love,
Elissa Amina
